NEST LEARNING PODS

Four Words.

Your. Place. Or. Ours?

As schools, parents and teachers plan for the upcoming school year, they’re faced with the unprecedented challenge of balancing personal health with the welfare and education of children. As educators and nurturers, we teach students how to embrace change and collaboratively solve problems with a growth mindset. In line with our educational philosophy, we have designed a school alternative to provide a safe learning environment where children can progress academically and have social connections with their peers while safeguarding adults from wide exposure. Families have the option of joining a pod at one of our centers, joining/hosting a home-based pod or joining a virtual pod. It all starts the moment we meet your child, we nurture your child and help them discover the world around them.  At Nest Child Care and Parent Institute, we've established a proven environment that is conducive to your child's social and educational success. At Nest, children work together, have constructive fun together, and discover how enjoyable learning can be. Gather a group of students and we’ll pair you with one of our incredible nurturers to teach your children at your place or ours.

OUR PROGRAM

Preschool Learning Pods will provide a consistent, in-person education for children ages 3 - 4 years old.

We are proud to offer quality care and education at our center or a family’s home for a Learning Pod of up to 6 students and 1 nurturer. Together we question, investigate, negotiate, and learn. We see ourselves as teachers, nurturers, caregivers and, above all, partners dedicated to working with families and helping children explore and discover the world around them and realize their fullest potential. In our learning pods, children learn through active play - engaging with materials while using their bodies, senses and emerging problem-solving skills.

Our Learning Pods are designed with children in mind, providing ample opportunities for play and exploration. Our Pod nurturers foster a feeling of belonging and cultivate a sense of community built on trust and respect to provide an atmosphere to support our students' ongoing growth and development in hybrid and virtual learning environments. Learning experiences are based on the unique needs and interests of children in their pod. And a low student-to-teacher ratio means we can provide more individual attention.

CURRICULUM

Our curriculum is drawn from fundamental learning standards and focuses on the learning skills that will last students a lifetime and that apply to any discipline. The core skills of reading, writing and math are taught in small, dynamic groupings based on skill level. Our context-rich, interdisciplinary projects offer students real-world opportunities to apply their knowledge and critical thinking skills to foster deep understanding. Our joyful approach to learning encourages creativity by celebrating failures as opportunities to learn, reflect and reiterate. Because our students work with teachers to define their own personalized learning goals, they co-create a common understanding of what personal success looks like and own their learning progress.

PEDAGOGY

We engage students in the process to develop agency and metacognition. We begin with a clear understanding of each learner and work with students to set individualized goals, reflect on their progress, and provide personally meaningful learning experiences. We adapt lessons to students based on their approach to learning, and we allow students to learn at their own pace through small, dynamic groupings and a mix of direct instruction, independent practice, instructional games, and real-world, hands-on activities. As students successfully master new knowledge, skills and habits, learning becomes fun and students gain confidence and trust in their own learning process.
